Paul Roark- EB6-YK Question

Paul Roark- EB6-YK Question

2008-12-16 by scott_now_coming

Hi Paul,

Other than this:

"I'm moving to a "Eb6-YK" approach that only uses the Y (2%) dilution
and the
100% Eboni K. Both of these inks are quite stable. They are also the
most
neutral of the inks. With printers like the 1400, one does not need
the middle
dilutions for smoothness. – Y and K are enough. For K2 printers (4 pl
drops) the
midtones have a grain pattern that I find very acceptable in wide
format, but it's
too rough for 8x10. This approach does require QTR and cannot be
printed with
the Epson driver. However, it also simplifies the system while
providing more
flexibility with respect to tones and papers. See my latest CIS at

is there an other info on your EB6-YK set-up?

From the jpeg, it looks like you're got 3 ink positions for K and 3
for Y. Is that correct?

Thanks,
Scott

Not really. On the 1400 I rather like the Y-K setup, and not much
more is needed. With my 2200, I've added a 10% UC MK to smooth out
the middle values. It ads a bit of warmth, but not that much.

To be honest, I'm looking at the other sources of gray inks now. The
HP gray initially looks to be stable in the simple C6 base, as does
the Epson UC MK -- perhaps as a warm toner. I'm also curious about
the Canon offering (and waiting for some spectro info on it). These
alternative gray inks might be very interesting inputs, particularly
if the black inks dilute well and have neutral tones. If they are
diluted and used with Eboni as the MK, they may still be rather
inexpensive. But all this will take time to sort out and test. For
now, my main 13" printer is a 1400 with Eboni-6 Y and K in it. I the
Y-K profile 50/50 with a 3-MK profile, using QTR and it's sliders
that allow mixing profiles.

Refillable 2880 Cartridges

2008-12-17 by Brian Corll

Are there refillable cartridges available for the 2880 ? I didn't see any on
the MIS site. I'd like to be able to use some of the ink I already have.
