Digital BW, The Print

I would appreciate someone explaining to me what determines the tone
(warm, cool, etc.) of B&W photos.  I am printing with my Epson 1280
with MIS EB6 ink set and printing on Ilford Gold Fiber Silk.  I printed
three different photos,all with the same settings and they had a deep
brown tone which I like very much as it reminds me of the old Ilford
Portriga Rapid.  But then, I printed a 4th photo with the same setting,
paper, printer and ink and the tone while warm was no where near the
tone of the other three.  I then printed another but changed the paper
type from photo paper to glossy photo and the results were almost
identical.  Thanks.
