23-24" monitor advice -OT

2009-06-10 by RobLee

I'm thinking to replace my 19" monitor, but don't want to spend a lot (no more than $500). It has to be calibrate able and possibly better than my Sony.
Thank you!

I like the Samsung 214T monitor much better then the Dell 24" I am now using as a video monitor. The monitor calibrates, and gives better color response then the Dell. The Dell had problems displaying blue - green colors properly.

Others I know who have tried Dell monitors had trouble with uneven brightness across the monitor.

I purchased my last 214T on eBay, new old stock, for just under $200.

Ben

Ben, what model Dell are you using as a video monitor?

Apparently Dell doesn't want me to know what model it is. I look all over the thing and it does not state a model anywhere. It is a 24" monitor manufactured in China in September 2005. It has USB ports on the left side as well as slots for reading memory cards. It was recommended for graphic arts at the time I purchased it. I remember paying a little over $1000 for it. I would need to dig up the paper work to find out more about it.
