Printer/Workflow reccomendation

Printer/Workflow reccomendation

2002-02-14 by geesey69

I am looking to purchase a printer to print 8x10 max. b&w images
using the MIS VM Quadtone inks.

My main concerns are as follows:
Price- I only need 8x10 images, so if I do not need to spend the
money on a 13x17 printer, it would be better.

availability- I would like to get a printer that is currently
available, not one that must be bought used.

I would also like to know if anyone has developed a successful
workflow using an A-size printer. I looked at the MIS Workflow page,
and it looks like everything is set up for the larger (more
expensive) printers.

I am new to this type of printing, and on a tight budget (student).

Thanks in advance for any info. anyone may be able to provide.

Aloha,
Peter

The Epson 980 can be bought refurbished from Epson, offered every few
days, for $99.00. It works well with MIS inks, and Epson heavy matte
paper, and should work OK with other papers. There should be a
workflow at MIS, under Quadtone.
