Signing Satin Prints

2009-08-28 by vinyo88

Is anyone having any luck signing satin or luster prints
with a pencil or am I relegated to using acid free pens.
If you have found a pencil that works what kind and where to
purchase it

Thanks in advance

There was a discussion of this issue recently in some group I read, and I settled on the Sakura Pigma Micron 03 (.035mm). It is a pen, but it looks good - not too dark - and is supposed to be archival. Bought it at my local artists supply store. Other widths are available.

I second the vote for the Sakura Pigma Micron. They are really
wonderful. I wrote an article about it here:

All the best,

Susan and Andrew, thanks for the info. That is the pen I was
considering but didn't know if anyone had tried them. I will
give them a try

Has anyone tried using a Stabilo pencil? Made by Schwan, 8046. It
writes on lots of glossy surfaces.

I was working with an architect and she gave me a mechanical pencil that worked very well on the back of glossy Epson paper. It's called a Penmate Duo Expert. But I'm having trouble finding more lead (.7mm) for it.

I've also used the Schwan Stabilo but it tends to smear a bit.
