I don't know, Stephen, and, in any case, I think the best place to
look for reports on any such problem(s) is probably MacInTouch.com.
You might also want to ask on MacEpson.com. Good luck.

Mark it could very well be that given your work, you never experienced the problem, nor now whether or not anything is different in the update.
Somehow, getting non-color managed data from Adobe through the OS to the drivers became convoluted. Also, there was an issue with the ABW driver as well, which I have not been monitoring, related to color management.
Generally the only people having trouble were those making profiles, as one needs to be able to print a chart straight. I believe that when a profile IS selected, there is no problem.
I've been wondering- have the profiling applications from which one can print the chart directly, like the EyeOne and DataColor applications, found a way to get the data through unaltered? This would explain why many have been unaffected.

So, do you make your profiles with an app from which you print charts directly? Also, since I know you do great Piezotone work, you may never encounter an Almost Black and White issue.

Well, I read about a workaround but decided to stick to CS3 which works fine...
Just wondered whether anything changed.

Actually, for some printers, the ColorMunki, since it only prints
targets directly to connected printers, does not work at all. The
Datacolor applications allow you to print targets from Photoshop, so
in those "worst cases" there is a workaround.

No. I printed the charts through PS, then read them in the application
basIColor. As a matter of fact I did my first ABW on the 9900 because
a client wanted certain glossy paper and did not mind the lackluster
blacks, and those looked scary good, very neutral. Certainly not as
good as the Piezotones.

well I'm stumped then...
During the height of the Leopard, PSCS4, Epson driver confusion, did you see a different between charts printed from your software and from Adobe? Or where the generic RGB workarounds required for PS?

I did this back in March so I do not remember the exact procedure I
used but I did it the same way I did on my 9600, 9500 a long time ago.
Beats me, perhaps it just takes the right combo of software and
computer to make it work.

With certain printers, installed in certain ways, with certain driver
versions, the controls to turn off color management would be
unavailable, or nonfunctional. There was some secret trick which
Photoshop used, that sidestepped that, and allowed access to those
features.

Re: [Digital BW] Snow Leopard + PS CS4

Something interesting about that report. Being they are experienced
computer users they should have done what Epson told them to do on
Monady right away as a troubleshooting technique. The first rule
"anytime you do an update and something does not work right is to
uninstall the problem and reinstall a fresh version". I would think
they would have known that. Computer 101.

That might be 102. Several times a week someone tells me that some
installer, application, or device is not working right. I ask: have
you restarted your computer yet? And they always answer no. That one
is 101... ;-)
