Hi, I am using MIS PKN in three channels of my Epson r1800 and eboni in another three. By mistake I filled one bottle of ink with MIS MP-4-PK instead of RC-NTL-4-PK. Would it be OK to add Cyan MP-4-C and/or Light Cyan MP-4-LC that I bought for My Epson 2100/200 to the MP-4--PK to make the prints cooler and, if so, in what proportions? Would the inks work together satisfactorily. Thanks, Colin

My favorite blue toner mix is 70% R800 blue to 30% cyan. The cyan for the various MIS inksets appears to be the same. As long as you stick with the relatively recent MIS MP, K4 or R800 inks, they should work together fine, with the caveat that these blended inks tend to separate, so agitation is recommended. The carts in desktop printers that move with the heads do this as a matter of course. Be sure to agitate bottles before loading the carts. (Agitation the day before might be best, so that any large particles have an opportunity to settle.) The ratio of the blue toner to the PK also, obviously, varies depending on how cool you want to go. While the highest dmax may be with almost 50% blue toner (and more cyan than the above ratio), the blends for the midtone inks that I've used recently vary between 20% and 40%. The higher ratio of toner to PK is needed for the most dilute inks to the neutral in the highlights, but they'll be too cool for a PKN that is used throughout the ramp. Hope this helps. Thank you Paul for such a quick response. I have no r800/1800 colour inks and so no blues. I do have MP inks for the 2100/2200, although not a lot. Can you give me guidance please for using the Cyan and Magenta ink types to get a reasonable match to the RC-NTL-4-PK formulation? I am very grateful Colin --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "pr_roark" <paul.roark@...> wrote:

Try 58% M, 42% C for the blue toner. I have not used magenta for a while. Probably 20% - 30% blue toner to PK will give you what you're looking for. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Many thanks, Paul, the 20% proportion looks good to me. Colin --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "pr_roark" <paul.roark@...> wrote:
