Epson 7900 support for mac....bah. (mini rant)

Epson 7900 support for mac....bah. (mini rant)

2009-11-16 by sagaface

I can't get the latest firmware update - which would stop this thing from cleaning all the time - until next Spring. Or, I can borrow someone else's computer with an older OS version OR a PC, hook up my printer, install the printer utility panel, THEN download the firmware. Otherwise I'm s**t outta luck.

um...!!

What problem are you having? What OS X are you running?

I'm running the latest version of Snow Leopard....the Epson tech told me I could not update firmware with SL until Spring, which is supposedly going to make the cleaning cycles less aggressive. I have both the Auto Nozzle Check and another nozzle setting I can't remember the exact name of checked off, but it doesn't help. Meanwhile I watch my ink levels go down as cleaning is very frequent. Frustrating.

I have been on the new firmware for about a week, I see no difference
in cleaning cycles frequency and as an added bonus it now comes up
with an error of "some nozzles may be clogged". I was told by Epson to
ignore it, nozzle checks are perfect.

That's useful information. Thanks, Mark.

Is the problem Epson LFP Remote Panel will not run on SL?

Can't you just turn Auto Nozzle check/clean off on the printer? The
11880 lets you do this. You can also set the auto nozzle clean per/5/
print thing to 30 or whatever you need. This should do it. I don't see
why you need to update firmware.

Please tell us where that menu is. My 9900 only shows off or on auto
nozzle check.

Yep, I don't see the option you describe for your 11880 on my 7900, either.

?
