7600 stuck in wait mode

7600 stuck in wait mode

2009-12-13 by ragarecords

I might have blown it by withdrawing MIS funnel-fill carts (to change from flush fluid to ink) from the printer while it was turned off. The LCD just reads WAIT. I waited a while; tied turning off and on, back to WAIT. After a while I tried turning off, unplugging, waiting 15min and plugging back in. Five hours later, still on wait.

Am considering putting the OEM carts back (with power on) and seeing what happens. Would appreciate any advice.

As I hoped, reinserting the OEM carts was enough to wake up the printer. It did feel the need to take a deep drink from them. I've reinserted the MIS carts and all is well--John Wilton

Well, not completely. Still went into wait mode after being turned off, and refused to run a cleaning cycle. I tried resetting chips: one cart reported a bad chip (red LED). Got a new one from MIS. Still same symptoms. Problem was solved after I disabled the ink counter. Funny story: neither the procedure on Cone's site or the two alernates on MIS' site worked. Cone's step one was missing one of the keys to be held down. After adding the down arrow key to the first step, the rest of the Cone procedure worked. Adding this in case anyone runs into similar troubles. --John Wilton
