Epson 1400 -UT-14, BO and Quad Tone RIP questions

Epson 1400 -UT-14, BO and Quad Tone RIP questions

2009-12-27 by mistylightphotography

Hello. I have done a search for the following questions. I just want to make sure I got it right. I am not interested in chemistry or graphs so perhaps I missed something.

1) The UT-14 ink set is "plug and play". Once the cartridges are in I don't want to fool with them until they are empty. I use Red River Auroa Natural Paper. I will never use glossy paper. If I do not like the results I can get a profile of the paper done. Is this correct?

2) Using the UT-14 ink set and the Quad Tone RIP software I can print Black Only. Is this correct?

3) Using MIS Ebony with the original Epson inks and the Quad Tone RIP software, can I print Black Only and color if I want without changing cartridges? Again I may need a profile because of the Ebony ink.

Thanking you in advance.

Tim

The UT14 inkset will print on matte paper with a reasonable image with no special profiles. Follow the settings in http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/UT14.pdf

If the profile is not in the zip file that you can download, it's up to users to make their own or supply profiles to each other.

Yes.

I'm doubtful that the MIS Eboni chip is compatible with the OEM chips. Often I've found that the chips on the carts all need to come from the some supplier. So, I don't know if an Eboni cart can be combined with the OEM Claria color inks, but I doubt it'll work. I use a 260 with MIS K4 color pigments in MIS carts as well as MIS Eboni. This works, though the profiles for the Claria inks are way off what the MIS K4 color requires.
