plz help with: epson tx210 (4 ink)

plz help with: epson tx210 (4 ink)

2010-02-20 by peter_vail

Hi everyone and thanks up front for any help.
I live in Singapore, and have recently bought an Epson tx210 all-in-one.
4 inks, OEM ink is epson code 73n

I want to start experimenting with this printer as a dedicated black and white photo printer before I drop any money on an expensive unit, but I am very confused about ink sets and icc profiles.

So many epson printer codes, from so many epochs.... I can't sift through it!

Can someone tell me: what is a good, reasonable set of inks to use, and set me straight in icc profile.
What is the short list of what I need?
And to make the icc profiles, are the johnroarke.com instructions from 200X still useful, or is there another way to go? Better way? Easier way?

(Looking for an neutral B&W or maybe selenium, but I'm not too particular as I am just trying to get this off the ground and I'll then learn as I go.)

--confused in singapore,
peter

Let me add a simplified question to my previous post:

With this basic 4-ink epson printer (TX210), can I just buy the
EZ B&W ULTRATONE CARTRIDGES FOR THE C82
and go?

If so, I'm set. Sounds like a good place to start.

If not, i.e. if there is a compatibility problem with these inks and printer, what do I do?

Thanks for any help.
Peter

(and a slight correction to the previous post.... paulroarke.com, not johnrourke.com.... sorry)

I'm not familiar with the TX210. However, if the carts will fit, then the C82 - C88 "EZ" types of inks will probably work. Getting carts that are compatible is probably much more of an issue that the inks.

thank you very much for the reply.
There are places here in singapore that do el-cheapo replacement inks from China, and they seem to have empty carts and chip resetters, if necessary. Maybe those can be used somehow.

I'll order the inks and try this out over the next few weeks. I'll post results when I see how it works.

thanks again,
peter
