From germany: Where to buy papers in or around San Francisco?

2010-03-14 by redoscar71

Hello everybody, please allow one question slightly off topic from gemany: Where to buy Inkjet-Papers in or around San Francisco? I'll be there in Spetember 2010 and like to fill my luggage with some inkjet-papers (especially those without OBA's), and, if possible, with some Itoya-portfolio-maps. We don't have many of theses items here in germany. For this, i'm searching one or two shops in the San Francisco Bay Area where i can get all this together. In this case, google hasn't been my friend, so i hope for your help. I'm looking especially for papers mentioned by Paul Roark and/or Clayton Jones. Best - Thilo

There are local places that have some papers but not most of the ones
mentioned here. Which are you looking for? Best might be to order
online, have them delivered to my office in SF and then we meet up.
Let me know if I can help.

I was going to recommend Calumet, and admittedly have not been there for a
number of months, but their in-store selection of inkjet papers the last few
times I was there was spotty (not nearly what they show on their website)
and many of the papers people talk about here on this forum were not at the
store.

That may have to do with the recent economic downturn, and the way it
is forcing specialty retailing to the web, instead of in expensive
physical storefronts...

You could order online from Atlex.com and have it shipped to where you are
staying. I receive most items from them in one day to Northern California.

I haven't been there in some time, but I'd expect Keeble and Shuchat to have
papers. It is not that for from SF and more than likely on some path that
you might make south. Besides paper, they'll have lots of other stuff you
may want.

Keenle and Shuchat carries a good selection of Hahnemuhle and Epson.
A bit of Harman and Ilford. I was there today.
