yes, but if you start with raw, you can freeze, can, or pickle the bits you
want and make delicious broth  or juice from the bits that would be
otherwise tossed out. With a filter it may be canned or frozen, but it won't
be pickled.

personally, i find a use for those broccoli stalks... er... bbd noise, what
were we talking about?  It's nice also to take them and ring mod of process
further before applying the filter(if needed)

With the huge variety of filters, i think i prefer this more modular
approach.
