I think that although this is a nice idea each function would need to load it's own program to instruct the module of it function. As well as a variety of sockets and controls I suppose that you could have a number of switches which boot a different function on the front panel. That would make the module more versatile. Dieter, maybe all you need to do is make the front panel a bit bigger and add a couple more controls. Maybe your second option would be to make 'brain' modules with the AD/microcontroller+memory/DA and 'faceplate function' modules with pots and jacks specific to a certain modules' functions. There would be no real electronics with these modules just jacks and pots.
