Sounds like a defective exponential converter of the HSVCO. I suppose that
one of the transistors in the transistor array of the converter is damaged.
This would explain the reduced frequency range. If you are able to replace
an integrated circuit (no soldering required, justed removing the circuit
from the socket and replacing it by a new one) we would send a new
transistor array to your dealer/representative for free.
