of course the length of the springs and the number of springs are also 
part of the sound, but i have found that even identical specs but a 
different year can make a *huge* difference in sound. basically you have 
to try before you buy if possible and check if there's enough hi end, 
even up to 8kHz or more. that's more or less a sign that everything is ok
