Thanks for all the suggestions.

Florian, thanks for pointing me at the right direction about gate signals.
You're right, a manually triggered gate would work in my setup. The
crossfader I don't need that much as I will be processing live instruments -
I'll probably send the instrument signal to the modules via an aux send on
the mixer (or several signals from the computer via the sound interface). On
the other hand, I'm sure a crossfader could be used rather creatively.

Heinrich, the idea of repatching is actually quite exciting, but as I will
be performing with other musicians, I'd like to keep my attention on them
rather than fiddling with small patch leads. However, I would definitely
consider starting with a patch and ending with another patch if I get to
improvise solo. And yes, I would also love to hear some of your
improvisations!
