Hi theres been a lot of talk of improvisation and synthesizing external sources lately so my question is has anyone found filters or other modules which work nicely with saxopone, especially soprano? Its my impression that filters can sound really great with trumpet and not so good with saxophone. there are good mechanical reasons this should be the case (rather than acoustic or electronic) because the sound eminates from the entire body of the saxophone and just comes from one hole in the trumpet- so subtractive methods for example doesn't really work because you always hear the original sound as well as the filtered one.... this is why brass instruments can be muted (mechanical filtering) BTW I also find that harmonising and pitchshifting for example work better on trumpet because the harmonic structure is less complex any comments?
