Make sure that stabilized 12V supplies are used. Sounds like unstabilized
are used. You cannot see from the LEDs on the bus board if the supplies are
stabilized.

In general the DIY kit 2 is not recommended for high quality requirements as
mentioned on our website:

"This is an extremely inexpensive version of the power supply. The quality
cannot be compared to those of the normal A-100 power supply (A-100PSU2).
Stability of the voltages is significantly worse compared to the regular
A-100 power supply (A-100PUS2). Especially if VCOs are are used tuning
problems may occur. But the bus board and the mounting rails (these are the
most expensive part of the kit) can be used later even in combination with a
high quality supply (e.g. A-100PSU2 or A-100 DIY Kit 1). In case of doubt we
recommend the A-100 DIY Kit 1  as the voltage stability of this kit is much
better."
