hi tim,
what i have found so far:i had some new
a131(v2.2001).i noticed that if you turn the input
knob all the way up the output uis much louder than
the older a131's and it is distorted too...dieter told
me that they made the new a131 this way because many
customres asked for distorted sound without the use of
the a136(!!!!?????).but to my ears this distortion
doesn't sound good.i find the sound of the new a131'as
to be more harsh.the older a131's had a more warm
sound that i liked best.similar warm sounding is the
a132 too,so i use the a132 for audio from now on...
about the a130:i don't have any new a130's so,i can't
make any comments about their sound...but i find it
really annoying for the new a131's to have that harsh
sound and to give you distortion without me asking for
it!!i preferd the old ones!!!!dieter told me that the
older a131 that used the curtis chips, now they would
be more expensive because the price of the curtis CEM
chip used in these a131's are much higher
now...(damn!!!!).so,i'll settle for the
a132's........the a132's ,despite the fact that they
use the same RCA chips as the new a131's, they don't
sound harsh but warm like the old a131's,i really
don't know why...
of course that's only MY opinion.
