You have asked for new ideas for modules, what about new ideas for cases? One of the roadblocks that many people (including myself) have for purchasing a modular system is access to a low-cost case option. I would propose two ideas for cases: 1) The "Ikea" type where you purchase a black covered wood case that is in pieces along with the power supply and mounting rails in a relatively flat box. The customer would be responsible for assembly. and 2) Having a metal rackmount frame that is designed to be mounted into an existing rack case, such as an SKB case. A power supply would be provided that the customer attaches to one of the inside walls of the rack case. I do not know if these have been suggested before, I do apologize if they have already been considered.
