Re: [Doepfer_a100] Lower Cost Case Ideas

2008-11-07 by Christophe Stoelinga

You are in luck!

Doepfer already makes those cases.
1) The "Ikea" type

You'll have to order the wood yourself but that makes it even cheaper.

 2) a metal rackmount frame

It is called the basic frame.

I hope those are indeed the cases you were looking for.

regards,
Christophe

You have asked for new ideas for modules, what about new ideas for

cases? One of the roadblocks that many people (including myself) have

for purchasing a modular system is access to a low-cost case option. I

would propose two ideas for cases: 1) The "Ikea" type where you

purchase a black covered wood case that is in pieces along with the

power supply and mounting rails in a relatively flat box. The customer

would be responsible for assembly. and 2) Having a metal rackmount

frame that is designed to be mounted into an existing rack case, such

as an SKB case. A power supply would be provided that the customer

attaches to one of the inside walls of the rack case.

I do not know if these have been suggested before, I do apologize if

they have already been considered.
