Joe, The A146 has variable waveforms, instead of the fixed outputs found on the A145 and A147. The A117 follows the pitch of a VCO, producing kind of a pitched noise, whereas the A118 is your standard noise. Pitched noise can be a very useful thing when it is used to modulate things.
