touch keys

2002-07-18 by ringmod45

wow!!!!! i couldn't believe what i read, today. i am shocked that
doepfer would even consider switching to normal mechanical keys. like
david salter said i already use an sh-101 to control my A100, i use
my 101 to do arpeggios and use its sequencer with my A100. why re-
invent the wheel here, please design something creative.

please don't make the mistake of using normal keys. people pay
enormous amounts to have touch plates be they made by buchla or
serge. why ? because they unique controllers, that's why! by reading
that post, i believe we are in for a major let down guys. it seems
like the project is directionless by judging on the comments made.

now we have to vote in a last minute poll to make sure it has touch
plates. honestly, can you believe this? i made a pretty comprehensive
poll a few months back. 9 people out of all the members from this
group bothered to vote. but now we have have to rush out and vote to
have the main feature of this project included!?!?!!! doepfer has
never discussed the poll with any of the members from this group,
judging from the results of such a small group, certain trends were
definitely wanted by the pollsters. again , has doepfer even
discussed any of these features with the group? the answer is NO.
what a shame.

i had a feeling this was going to happen back then, which is the main
reason i took the time to write the poll, in order to avoid the
precise type of comments laid out in mr. doepfer's post. the more
things change, the more they stay the same. now my thoughts are
reality. another reason i wrote those ideas down is from my personal
experiences with touch plate keyboards, i guess customer related
experiences are not so valauble at doepfer.

i want to enlighten a few of you as to how a company should react and
use its group members for input on its new and upcoming designs.

THE GROUP IN QUESTION IS MOTM. please go to the group and read how
the designers and customers work together in order to release a
product. layout and design features are planned and discussed to
avoid any screw ups or lack of features.

oh well, here goes another half baked, half realised product coming
down the pipe. hmmm, reminds me of the schaltwerk and regelwerk.
i won't be buying this pipe dream this time, i'll just go on using my
SH101, like i have since i got my A100.

DISAPPOINTED, YOU BET !!!! i hope someone at doepfer realizes that we
the group and paid customers should be asked to have input in the
design process and features to avoid serious errors. i feel like i
just had a shot of battery acid. i am still dumbfounded.

praying some intelligent ideas will prevail,
RM
