The prototype is not active and not buffered. Introducing buffers would be
easy but if buffers are added the directions (i.e. which sockets are inputs
and which are outputs) are fixed. In the passive version the direction is
not predetermined. Evenspecial connectors with resistors, capacitors or
diodes and so on can be used (but that may be possible with buffers too,
depends upon the buffer type).
