You'll be surprised at how gritty the A100 can get. A lot will depend on
the modules and a basic system is a good jump off point for modular
synthesis and the modules in that system can provide a wide colour
range.

To be honest though if you want to take it to extremes then a couple of
modules/makes come to mind; Geiger's Weapon of Mass Destruction &
Metasonix modules to name a few.

Within the Doepfer range there are a couple of very nice dirty modules,
A189-1 Bit Crusher, A137-1 & A137-2 Wave Multipliers, A136 distortion
and from the filtewrs the Wasp and Xtreme are great too.

Personally I have a mix of makers in my system but started with an A100
Basic system, these things have a habit of growing.

Hi Guys,

Ive spent hours and hours and hours online checking out modular gear and
(trying) to get my head around it all. For now, ive saved up enough to
get an a100 Basic System2 and im hoping for the best! :)

What I wanted to know from anyone:
Im only after modular gear for the "alive" sounds ive heard from other
peoples stuff (mainly Buchla TBH..love that sound!..But cant afford
one..anyways thats irrelevant)

Im mainly into really distorted sounds, drum n bass,
mechanical/industrial and love shaping sounds and spending hours on a
sound to make it right and come "alive".

Am I looking in the right place(Doepfer?) for my sound? Ive heard allot
of the dopefer demos online and I guess the impression I get is rather
really old school, simplistic and minimal/80's (Which I dont mind and
love in certain instances)..But at the same time..Can I do more with it?

What would someone recommend I get as a startup, to get this sound im
after..Shall I go for a "sound design/shaping"a100 system..Or for a
"Basic synth system"..I have read soo many links/seen youtube vids etc
etc but really I wanted to hear it from the horses mouth, so to speak
before I make my order.

Does anyone have a "sound rape a100" system they can offer advice on?
lol

Thanks for reading :)
