I totally disagree on the use of the busses. I never use them, I find the idea not fitting in a modular system.
My thought behind this:
It's a modular, every signal should be visible and easily re-patchable on the front.

and a quick footnote on this particular bit - often i see on mods they DO have the 16-pin headers, but they only use an 8 or 10-lead ribbon cable (whatever minimum was necessary for the mod to work), so a lot of the time it's not even a space issue, just a laziness or "it never occurred to me in the first place" issue. oh well... :-)

It doesn’t add that much to put a 16-pin header on the PCB (space is the only problem for some) and a header to enable the function.
