You probably mix up the terms legato and portamento (or glide or slew) ? The term for the "continuous pitch slide" is portamento. Legato (i.e. gate permanent "on" in the modular world) can be combined with or without portamento/glide/slew. To be honest I don't know what's the difference between portamento and glissando.
