My multimeter is digital, and hence, reads positive and negative voltages quite happily. That said, I'd rather have a meter module from Doepfer than one of my own DIY hacks. What I'd like is a 12HP module with an analog VU style meter (prerefably backlit), and a couple of passive attenuators. The module would be fairly inexpensive and easy to manufacture, and would probably pay for its own development in no time.
