Doepfer

hi together, 

this is my first post here, so hi everybody, I'm a germany-based film composer, 
proud of a new small doepfer system. 

My question's about the 136 distortion/shaping module. I think the manual is a 
bit short about the details. How could I possibly get a kind of neutral position 
to start distorting the source  more consciously; L+ all up L- all down and A 
just a bit above the center position should sound like bypass, according to the 
manual; in fact, in already makes a square out of a sine wave.
