PSU2 wiring to mains inlet in a wooden case

2005-05-03 by benvehorn

Hi all,
I'm about to start a Doepfer system. I'm thinking about building my own wooden case and
just mounting the modules directly to wooden strips. I would purchase a PSU2 and one or
more buss boards to be mounted in the rear of the case.
I looked on the main Doepfer site and it has very clear instructions on how to wire up the
PSU2 to the mains inlet and buss board. I don't think I would have any problems with this,
but I do have a few questions:
---in shopping for a mains inlet/fuse holder/power switch, what rating would I want for
the fuse? I'm about to go look at Mouser, etc, but if anybody has a part number that they
have successfully used, I'd like to know.
---the wiring diagram assumes the user has a metal case to run a ground from the power
inlet. If I were to use a wooden case, where would I run the ground wire?
---anything else I should know? Should I put heatshrink tubing over the solder points on
the power inlet to insulate them?
Thanks in advance.
---Ben
