i shall just throw another idea:

could bucket brigade device be used for a module that records control 
sequences?

the ability of playing back theremin, ribbon controller, etc performance in 
various ways

looping or gate triggered, forwards or backwards

bucket brigades are commonly used in analog delays

thoughts?
