Hi,
Well, I had some thoughts on this before, since a lot of the
connections I make (VCF-VCA-EG) are pretty "standard" in my set-up
I have not noticed any jacks wearing out, but I find the clutter of
patch cords a little too much now & then, as a basic patch will often
take up 5 cords already
There was once a poll for a kind of all-in-one module for one synth
voice, not unlike an OB SEM, but it did not raise a lot of enthousiasm
in the group.
I would still be in favour of such a module, something like the A-109
with an EG and maybe a VCO+sub added to it.
Alternatively, I am also considering hard-wiring some connections
behind the panels, but my soldering skills are not very great.
I also have an Cwejman S1 pre-patched semi-modular here whcih I use in
conjunction with the A-100 and this proves to work really nicely. With
only 3-4 patch cords needed for conneting a few A-100 modules, its
sound can be altered completely. It's the best of both worlds (modular
and prepatched), but not an inexpensive solution.
