I use Max/MSP but not so directly with my A100.  I mainly have used Max/MSP to create 
self generating music or effect processing in which I improvise.

So an example would be I create a patch that controls a few MIDI synths to play sustained 
notes in a specific scale which I play my A100 along with. The A100 has it's audio 
processed through my sound card in Max/MSP in tempo with the MIDI clock.

Does this make sense?

My advice to anyone wanting to learn Max is to choose 1 goal and do not be distracted by 
other things one can do with the software.
