Interfacing with Blacet

Interfacing with Blacet

2006-10-22 by travesty14850

Hi all--

I am digging my Doepfer system in a big way...espcially the A-112,
which to my surprise I'm keeping in pitch shift mode much of the time,
as a weird delayed quasi-oscillator.

Anyway, I've ordered a couple of Blacet cages and I'm going to build a
parallel set of Frac Rack stuff. Will I have any trouble interfacing
with the Eurorack modules? They'll be powered separately, there's no
problem there...will I have any trouble with audio levels or, more
importantly, CV?

Thanks!

usually there is no problem, but sometimes the cv-ranges
are different. the "standard" blacet vca's need a voltage
of +10 volts to open up completely, the doepfer vca's need
+5 volts. so doepfer eg's and blacet vca's don't make a good
combination.

one special case is the blacet frequency divider,
which can produce a voltage of +15 volts at one output.
some doepfer modules can be damaged when a voltage
greater than +12 volts is presented to certain inputs
(f.e. a150, a151, a155), so you have to be careful with that
blacet divider, if you will ever get one (it is discontinued).

Thanks a lot, Ingo--I'll keep that in mind. I don't think I'll ever
get a Blacet Frequency Divider, so that should be no problem...and I'm
mostly going to use the Blacet system for bringing in some different
filters and oscillators. (esp. the MOTM GX-1 filter...which is the
same filter as in my Yamaha SY-1...which doesn't have CV or audio inputs).

I'm thinking about adding the Wiard joystick...does it also only send
+/-5v? I should probably just get the Doepfer Joystick, but I'm out
of Doepfer rack space...and I don't want my habit getting out of hand...

the wiard joystick sends 0 to +10 volts.

OK, great...that's certainly handy!
