Tuning and retriggerin

Tuning and retriggerin

2006-11-16 by kaalimus

Hi,

Two questions, both might have been anwered on this board already,
but i couldn't find anything definite by searching.

The first question is about tuning. I have two A-110 VCOs. What is
the supposed neutral setting for the Tune knob, if there is one? I
have to tune it to a bit over 8, to get a proper tune. Tracking works
fine.

The second question, is there a way to set the A-190 MCVS to work
like this: If i press C3 on my keyboard, keep it down and press C4
simultaneously, then release C4 while holding the C3, and the synth
should play C3 again. This is how my other synths work.

Thanks.

My A110's require the tuning knob to be in different positions for them to
be in tune. I assume this is normal.

Your second question is answered on page 15 (Assign mode) of the A190
manual, available at http://www.doepfer.de/a100_man/A190_man.pdf

Cheers,

Silas

I haven't checked mine--my Doepfer system came already assembled by
Analogue Haven--but I'm sure there are tuning trimpots inside.

Thanks for the assign mode tip, i actually read the manual a couple
of times, and thought that wouldn't do the trick. Well, it didn't do
the trick completely as it only works when the note kept is lower.

The last note mode sounds like it should be doing what i want it to
do, but it does not. Maybe the correct mode would be a "first note
priority", if there was such as mode.

No what you are looking for is a "lowest note, non-hold, last keypress"
algorithm.

There are a lot of possible algorithms for monophonic keyboards, which
affect different aspects of a key press.

Lowest/highest/new-note-priority decides which of two actually pressed
keys determines the CV

Hold/non-hold determines what happens to the CV if two keys are pressed
and if the one key is release, which determined the CV until the key
release.

Last/first-keypress-priority decides which of two key presses create a
gate or trigger signal.

Legato/Retrigger describe whether a new gate is given when the CV changes.
