If there is a specialized shop in Australia you can recommend please forward

this information to our sales office (sales@doepfer. de). I'm sure we will be

able to find a solution for our Australian customers as soon as we can find

a reliable partner who has even sufficient know how for

consultation/ demonstration and is able to carry out minor repairs.

Thank you

Re: Spring Reverb box position

Hi all

I have the Spring reverb ...should the box with the springs inside be
faced down so the springs are not showing and therefore no dust, or face up?

Dust does not make any influence to the springs themselves, because the
electrical sound stimulation cause vibrations of the springs which
remove the dust.

In the opposite: There is also some advantage with a open side up
position. You can lay something on the springs, which changes the sound
of the reverb: Eg. aluminium foil, nails across the springs for
resonating effects, or a kleenex or fabric for damping.

Thats not John Cage, thats - as far as I rember - Dynacord or Echolette
or some similar german company:
I have seen a spring based reverb box in a studio in Frankfurt in the
late 70ies, which had two mechanical attachable devices. One was a short
piece of cloth which could be attached to the spring start by a lever
and acted as a HF damper. The other was a kind of brush with something
like lametta hanging from it instead of brush pins, which could be
attached to the springs and its position could be moved; it added some
nice sizzling the the reverb.

I don't know whether it was single custom made device or whether it was
a regular product.

no, just practical, the damped reverb can sound very good. you can
even combine damped reverb and 'undamped' reverb or damp
individual springs. the other secrets you'll have to find out yourself

:-P
