Broken A-154?

Broken A-154?

2007-02-02 by Jay

Hooked it up properly (checked three times), but it doesn't seem to be
controlling the sequencer. I can step through the sequences using the
manual clock button, but it won't respond to either the internal or an
external clock source. I can clock the sequencer directly using the
"old" way when the master switch is set to on.

hello jay,
try pushing the "start" button on the a155 (and the
a154).
best regards,
Bakis.

Thought that the Note on page 7
(http://www.doepfer.de/a100_man/a154_man.pdf) might be of help. Rgds, Ingo

Yep, tried pretty much everything. The first and last pots are set
correctly too.

Yeah, I saw that. :-\

Maybe some unwanted voltage is connected to the control voltage socket
for firststep or laststep.

If I press the manual clock button the first or last step controls work.
My problem is that it won't advance using a clock signal.

Does the LED of the internal clock oscillator of the A-154 display a clock
signal. Try this settings: clock ~ 7, PW ~ 5, with first stop control = 0,
last step control = 10, mode = 0 (forward). And pay attention to the correct
position of the master switch (right position).

And if you give back the control to the A-155 (master switch = left
position): does the A-155 work like before ?

Best wishes

Yes, the clock LED is blinking. I've already tried the above settings
combination and it did not work.

Yes.

The only idea I still have is a poor or broken contact of the clock input
socket. Otherwise you have to send back the module for repair. And be sure
(though I already mentioned that) that the module is not in the CV
controlled mode. In this case the step position is controlled by the CV of
the first step control+CV and the clock input does not work in the usual
way, i.e. not clock triggered step advance.

Best wishes

I tried to look at if the connectors were soldered in, and everything
looks ok. Oh well, I'll send it back. I just wanted to make sure I
wasn't doing something stupid before I did. ;-)
