Let us now praise famous modules (A-188-1)

Finally got a chance to use my A-188-1 on a session as a standalone effects processor, away
from the modular. Up to this point, I've mostly been using the BBD module with the
A-149-1/2 modules for no other reason than the patches have been really interesting (in
that so-called West Coast way of using a modular). But for this session with P.A.F.
( www.myspace.com/paf ), where they wanted something "noisy and psychedelic," I thought
what the heck: the BBD can process anything, right?

The long story short: we ended up choosing the Bleep Labs Thingamagoop as the sound
source because you can really make it scream in the right kind of lighting conditions. I ran
that through the BBD, then into a guitar amp at a high volume. Because I can play the
Thingamagoop with one hand, I was able to work with the BBD's controls with the other hand.
Instant '50s sci-fi fx, obviously, but it sounded amazing. If you haven't experienced the
sound you get when you slowly lower the delay-clock control manually from top to
bottom...it's really a blast. "The kids love it!"

The A-188-1 would be a good candidate for the new A-100 Beauty Case, especially for
someone who has already maxed out a couple of suitcases (like I have).

Frankfurt or bust!

Nice Gino,
I love the 188-1y (256 stages). I find myself always patching it
through (mix out or bbd out) the A-126 pitch shifter or vice versa.
The 126 takes a little bit of the crispy edge off and gives it an
instant spooky spectral aura.
