Just zoomed in on modular planner(no real purpose) and found out a new system I didn't know about. Anybody own a synthesizers.com thing? It looks very solid... how does it work, sound and so on...

On the other hand, I still own (and cherish) a huge Doepfer system: 17 vco's, 16 filters, 18 EG's, etc.. The Arrick is very pretty, almost identical to old modular Moogs, and is fairly priced. However, it's way too bulky (not necessarily a problem, though). The only reason I've trimmed down my studio is, basically, MONEY. I owe some to the IRS. Fortunately, I'm currently at a point where I don't need to sell anything else. I still own a massive Synthtech MOTM system (check out their website. Now this is ONE SOLID MODULAR, people!!), with 8 vco's, 8 EG's, 10 filters, 5 vca's, etc. I also have a small (3 panel) Serge system. Bottom line, I have plenty to keep me happy. I don't think I'll ever purchase Arrick stuff ever again, not because they make a bad product, but because I already own TOO MUCH, and, the more you own, the more complicated and less enjoyable it becomes. The Doepfer is wonderful, and will always be the one that I play the most. Now, the one that will outlast the rest is, without a doubt, the MOTM. cuari

I believe indeed Synthesizers.com *is* very solid. It has a lot of devotees. There's a yahoo forum for Synthesizers.com whose archives contain a lot of first-hand answers to your question and where you can ask questions. It's a very devoted group of users who tend to act like the cat that got the canary. Andreas Lindholm wrote:

I'm curious -- I'd love to know why the Doepfer is the modular you play the most. More interesting and efficient set of modules you've assembled in that particular instrument? Other reasons? --- In Doepfer_a100@y..., "bodego7" <jesusd@s...> wrote: > I have plenty to keep me happy.
