TOUCH SCREEN/PAD

hallo
I just have question for "possible" control idea

is there any chance to produce module similar to Ribon Controler
only released on touch pad?
as in laptops or Kaos Pad
but with X and Y values with more complex cv generator

I guess it would not be very complicated to do it
also stil ribon controler module could work with this

any reflections?

I think this can be very very useful life
especialy if this will get few swith for polarisation
and inverting cvs

best

I think a USB controller device would be cool. It would default to
read a typical mouse. A default setup that would read a standard
Microsoft compatible 2-button/scroll wheel mouse (user supplied). The
module would output CV for relative X-Y increasing or decreasing with
movement. The buttons would gibe gates, and the scroll wheel would do
a relative CV also. If you found a touch pad that emulated a mouse -I
know I have seen them - you could use that. Trackballs that "looked"
like mice to a standard computer would also work. I think this could
be a great performance module.

hmmmm,
why not use a Wacom tablet or the Nintendo Wii controller, everyone seems to
love, as the basis for a module, I was really excited by the proposed N64
controller option but that never happened, still, something like that would
be great. The ribbon is great, but there are so many cheap options out there
that could be exploited by us....
best,
phil

just my opinion-

i've tried the moog voyager, and the touch pad is fantastic.

as a current doepfer ribbon controller user, though, i must say that
these are really really great. the length allows a very detailed,
particular response. a small touch pad would not have the detail, for
sure. i think it is much more personal than anything possible with a
joystick, theremin controller or foot controller. i have made many
patches that sound to my ears a lot like lyrical screeches and howls
of an avant garde sax player ala evan parker or albert ayler.

i could not dispense with the ribbon controller after having one for a
year or so.

hej
thats true I was using this last month and finaly ribon controler is amazzing
especialy cos you can chose "hold" which I found great

I mean touch pad, would be of course less detailed
but aslo may be more creazy cos of two parameters or what ever

and to other messages before
I do not mean to involve any midi kind of controlers
which I can use with computer, but not with modular synth
I prefer to stay with just voltages, not numbers

thanks for your feedback

Doepfer some years ago planned a interface for a so called 3D Mouse (as
used for CAD/CAM software). I don't know what happened to this project,
But in general it was a USB data to CV converter.
