Drum Sounds..

Drum Sounds..

2002-03-29 by :::M 3 D I U M:::

Cheers, I have been sitting on the list for a few months.. I have a new
system (even went to the company in Munich to pick it up.. I live in San
Francisco though) I was working on some drum sounds and had a question:

I have the 808 transistor ladder and was working on a low kick drum sound.
Is it better to patch the source through a filter and then trigger the ADSF
with a pulse, or go source to ADSF then to filters??? I am having some
trouble getting a good solid basic kick drum... What has worked for people??

Coleman.

A kick would be more like pure cranked filter resonance controlled by
ADSR. You want a nice fast pitch drop. Experiment with that.

The easy way out would be to buy the kick module from A-Sol. I have heard it
is decent. Otherwise I have heard that the original 808kick consist of 8
sines. SOS has some articles on the subject.

A-sol who are they ?

You can make some totally fat kicks using just the stuff on the basic system,
using the self oscilation on the filters run through a tight ADSR.

Re: Drum Sounds..

Hi!
I had good results for bass drums by the following way: You need two
ADSR, one VCO and VCA. Select any waveform of the VCO, control the
pitch (cv 1 or 2) by an ADSR (time range:L, all knobs on zero, and
a
short/middle decay). With the other ADSR you control the VCA (time
range:M, attack and decay: zero, put the decay around 6 and ready is
the bass drum. With different waveforms you have different
overtones... and when you put a distortion between VCO and VCA
you´ll
have more aggressive sounds. Another possibility is to use two
VCO´s
and sync them...
Bye, Manu.

a-sys in doepfer?

2002-04-01 by Andreas Lindholm

I read up a bit and found out that doepfer cases are just standard eurorack
and bought one cheap of the shelf, will add powersupply and busboard.
Considering all this I know that doepfer fits into a-sys-rack. A-sys must
fit into doepfer racks, right? then the obvious bit to solve is powersuppy
for those modules. Are there any doepfer-a-sys convertercables anywhere?

Hey Guys,
Have you all checked out the "synth secrets" articles currently running in Sound on Sound (www.sospubs.co.uk) they have a lot of stuff based on modulars and the first few articles have been on drums.

Hi Modularcharles,
Hi Rob,
Hi Manuel,
Hi Ian,

what about an A-100-patch for the Modular-Planet?

Text like connections/settings, that will do!

Greetings,

Josef
