Doepfer

Hi all,

Sorry if these are dumb questions....

I've just purchased a second hand Doepfer suitcase containing an 
110v PSU2. Unfortunately I'm in Australia which runs 240v so I need 
a stepdown transformer. I am just wondering what the rating on the 
transformer should be in order to operate safely if the case were 
fully populated with modules ?   

Another issue is that the PSU2 uses the 3 pin US power plug whereas 
the majority of transformers available seem to have only two pins. 
Is there a safe and / or easy way of getting around this problem ?  

Finally, is it simple to convert the PSU2 from 110v to 240v ?

~ 60 Watt for one PSU2, with a 100W version you will be on the safe side

The third pin of the mains connection is the earth/shield and is connected
to the metal parts of the frame. In case of a fault no dangerous voltages
can appear at the metal parts of the frame. I stricly recommend to use only
mains cables and mains connections that support the earth/shield terminal !

You have to be experienced with electronics. We have a document available
(for experts only !) that describes how to modify the PSU1 and PSU2 for 230V
(or vice versa for 115V). You can ask for this document if you are an expert
or if you know a specialist who is able to carry out the modifications for
you (use my email address hardware@doepfer.de).

Hi Simon,

This should do the trick for you. The earth connection carries through
to the output.
