power supplies

2007-10-19 by neil jendon

I built my own power supply. It's got plenty of current for my small system. I only have one oscillator, an A110, and the pitch slowly drifts up and down. I've disconnected all the other modules and it still does it. It's small enough that I really don't care; the way I use this stuff, tuning is a lesser priority. I was wondering if that slow fluctuation could be caused by poor PS regulation.

Any thoughts, gang?

What kind of regulation did you use? 7812/7912 or some tunable?

[Doepfer_a100] Portable case

2007-10-21 by Anthony Rolando

Is it possible to purchase just the A-100 portable case? I mean without the power supply. I could probably use the distro boards, but perhaps without even those...

Here is what happened.

I just ordered and received a A-100 portable case and I was completely OVERJOYED at the size! Talk about perfect to carry on a plane (after you explain how it is not a bomb detonator command station). I have filled it with my euro modules, and I like it ALOT.

I also have 1 frac rack full of DIY running off +/- 15V. I like the portable case enough that I want to make new panels and stuff one full of my DIY modules. Some of the modules will not fit due to board size (though I have some ideas about getting around that, perhaps mounting the boards parrallel as opposed to perpendicular), but most will!

So that is why I seek an A-100 portable case sans power supply.

ADDITIONALLY, can anybody reccommend a suitable +/-15V supply of similar form factor to the Doepfer supply?

Thanx much!

Tunable. I found out the problem was further down the path (kind of embarrasing, really). A flaky headphone amp with slowly modulating volume that I perceived as pitch change. I was wondering why I couldn't hear it through the monitors.

Anyway, thanks for the responses. Troubleshooting fun!

Only upon request as we obtain the ready built cases from our manufacturer
(i.e. with built in power supply, bus boards, mains inlet, switch, fuse and
completely wired and per-tested). We do not have empty cases in stock.

Best wishes

A good voltage regulation is essential for stable oscillators. If the supply
voltage fluctuates this affects the VCO pitch. There is an additional
voltage regulation on each VCO module but it does not compensate all supply
voltage fluctuations.
