Andreas, its ok. The 5v line is already on the bus; its just unused until
you connect the 5v adapter, which merely puts a voltage regulator across
from the +12v converting it to +5v, and sticking it on the bus. You should
be all-set!

Or is there still one part missing in the manual about the 5v converter.
Fitting it it now obvious, but as to where to connect the 190 to the
busboard is still unclear to me. On which side of the converter? Can
somebody plainly explain that part?

Sorry, but it still unclear to me. If I put the converter two jacks from the
edge of the bus board will only those be 5v outputs or will in fact the
whole bus boars turn into 5v? The latter is what it seems like to me.
Needless to say that is not what I want since I only want to add a single
a190 to my system. If the whole bus goes 5v then a whole row of modules will
be unpowered.

Indeed there could have been a whole lot more info in the manual for my
taste.

Check the LEDs on the right hand side of the bus board. When the 5V
adapter is plugged in, the +5V LED should be illuminated when the
power is on. This tells you that +5V is available on the entire
rail. It doesn't matter which connector the A190 is plugged in to.

It workes really nice

2002-04-25 by Andreas Lindholm

First of all, thanx to all who helped out with the 5v converter.

Then I must confess that the a190 worked like a charm. Seldom does auto
select thingys work, but this did. I pressed two buttons and it found the
midichannel and everything worked.
