new modules proposals to DOEPFER

new modules proposals to DOEPFER

2008-02-12 by gasp_uleg

hi there

Here are few ideas for modules of which i've dreamed since many years
now and which i hoped i would to see apearing during the first decade
of the 21th century but as for 2008 no one has yet done any of them...

i've just added some polls for you to vote about 4 digital modules, 1
strange module and 2 utility modules:

VC GRAIN PROCESSOR with vc delaytime, vc feedback, vc pitch, vc
grainsize, vc grain direction, vc grain laptime, vc grain atack, vc
grain release

VC GRAIN GENERATOR with vc sampselect, vc startpoint, vc loop point,
vc pitch, vc grainsize, vc grain direction, vc grain lap, vc grain
atack, vc grain release, vc position pointer

VC MULTI-SAMPLE RECORDER/LOOPER/DELAY like a digitech's "jam man" in
a module with large memory, MDcards, gateplay, trigreset, vc
sampselect, vc pitch, reversible vc startloop & stoploop points

VC DIGITAL MULTI EFFECTS PROCESSOR with several CV inputs to control
parameters of a DSP and some memory for reverbs, delays, resonators,
amp simulators, dynamics...

VC WIDERANGE RADIO RECEIVER (FROM VLF TO CW) with vc freq zone
selector, vc freq finetune, and vc q factor (like in the old lamp
radios)

SENSOR TO CV VOLTAGE ADAPTOR with voltage gain, offset , range, and
linearity controls, lag process and noise filter to adapt any kind of
sensor to normalized CV

SENSOR TO GATE/TRIG ADAPTOR with voltage gain, low headroom, high
headroom controls and selector for trig or gate modes to use any kind
of sensor to normalized GATE/TRIG

let me know what you think about these ideas

cheers

i sent these ideas to ddoepfer and he suggested me to open polls on
the group to see what others think about

ohh the proposals are not from doepfer ?
i voted yes for all of them and was already planing my next rack
because of this funky proposals ! hahahah

when i read them i was wondering if analog combfilters exist ?

I'm in favour of CV controlled digital modules.

I expressed an interest in granular a while ago however the problem that
Dieter and the team will have is the amount of processing power and
memory needed to do this in real time, especially if you want smooth
transitions between very small grains.

But if it can be done?

no, they are not from doepfer. i did not make the
polls either.
every member can make their own polls. but that does
not mean that these proposals are actually doable...
anyway, of course anyone is free to vote.
best regards,
Bakis.

Re: [Doepfer_a100] new modules proposals to DOEPFER

I'm not sure I understand the ideas behind the proposed modules - it
would be nice with a short description of what each of them is
supposed to do, not just the inputs and outputs. The ones I think I
understand seem dandy, though.

RE: [Doepfer_a100] new modules proposals to DOEPFER

2008-02-12 by Anthony Rolando

SENSOR TO CV VOLTAGE ADAPTOR with voltage gain, offset , range, and
linearity controls, lag process and noise filter to adapt any kind of
sensor to normalized CV

SENSOR TO GATE/TRIG ADAPTOR with voltage gain, low headroom, high
headroom controls and selector for trig or gate modes to use any kind
of sensor to normalized GATE/TRIG

These two seem as though they could be done using the A119 follower, a slew module and a gate to trigger module.

If I am wrong, please explain what it is that would make this proposed module different.

Thanx,

Tony

[Doepfer_a100]Radio receiver, was: new modules proposals

2008-02-13 by Anwander, Florian

Hello

The last days two of you proposed a radio receiver as a module. To my
knowledge there is no chance to get these, because everyone who wants to
produce and sell radio receivers to the end customer has to obey very
strict rules, has do to extensive testings and certifications; the tests
and certifications cost very much money, so there would be no return of
costs. Especially since you simply can pick any five dollar radio with a
1/8" output and connect it to the A-100, no one would buy a Doepfer
module which would have to cost 20 or 30 times more.

Florian

a radio reciever which you could sequence via CV and modulate with LFOs would be a different thing though -

crazy, and rather specilaised, but different!

Subject: [Doepfer_a100]Radio receiver, was: new modules proposals

  Florian

AW: [Doepfer_a100] new modules proposals to DOEPFER

So far we have two prototypes of such a module available (based on DSP
boards by other companies). But both have unacceptable disadvantages: the
first version does mute the sound when certain parameters are changed via CV
(e.g. delay length), the second generates audible glitches or clicks when
certain parameters are changed. We are waiting for another DSP board from a
company who promised that their board does not have these drawbacks. We will
see ...

Best wishes

Hi,

I have had STEIM (www.steim.nl) design a radio for me that can be controlled
by sensors - it works with CVs too but not so good as with sensors. I was
hoping for a bigger range of tuning but it turned out to be quite limited.
The radio to be used here should allow continuous tuning, similar to an
analog tuning radio.
