first off, i think saying "if you don't have one, get one" could be misleading, and i apologize for that..what i mean is the A-101-9 Universal Vactrol mod is a very good thing to have to add voltage control to mods that don't have voltage control for some functions...

for this example: i added a jack to an A-145 LFO that accepts the output of the Universal Vactrol mod, and that routes a control voltage signal (output from the A-140 ADSR) signal to the frequency of the LFO...for a better idea, look at the technical info on Doepfer's site about the A-101-9....i've been able to add voltage control to several modules on my Doepfer rack, and it has given me lots of options i didn't have before...

hello ross

what does the universal vactrol actually do in this patch ?
i dont have it but i would like to recreate your idea.

A crude swing clock can be obtained by combining two outputs from A-
161. For example, outputs #1 and #6 give ratio 5:3.

Sorry. Just a test.
(This thread is not shown at the top the list despite recent activity.)

i just found another way :

the pulse output of an osc tuned in lfo speed as the clock in input.
now you can adjust the swing factor with the pulsewidth knob.
additionally you can apply pwm from a slow lfo that is synced to several
steps of the sequencer to get the whole thing shaking really nice.

Help me decide on a module

2008-04-08 by David Bulog

Is anyone on this list able to advise on a module I should get

I have a Doepher A100P suitcase
Top row is
A-154,A-155, A-190
Cwejan VM1 , A-106 Extreme

I have 44 TE/HP left in bottom row
Im deciding on a Livewire AFG (28 TE/HP) or
Cwejan VCO-2RM (20 TE/HP)

the VM1 has its own VCO, VCF and VCA and EG so I can patch either
the AFG or VCO-2RM into the VM1 VCF input
the VCO-2FM can double as a LFO and has a ring mod but the Livewire
AFG is the latest and greatest and is out in 4 weeks

Advise welcome--any other modules also to fill the remainder

thanks David

Hi, I can also recommend the quad ADSR, and the quad LFO. I have also
surprisingly got a lot of use out of the A-129-3 as a 5-way CV
offset/attenuator. It seems to work its way into almost every patch. I
also use the A-156 Quantizer for VCO pitch CV. The A-118 noise source
is useful. I would also recommend a MIDI/CV converter that handles
more than one CV/gate pair, since you seem to be looking for multiple
voices.

another vote for the quad ADSR, quad LFO and the vocoder attenuator/
offset generator.
also look into the quad AD, a very underrated module.
what i use quite often as well are a-167 comparators and a-172 max/min

best,
d

Yeah, here also very much into the quad AD/LFO, A106-1 filter, 196 PLL,
A166+149s+118 combo for all sorts of random gates...

Best,

Alexandre
