cv source -12 +12 volt

cv source -12 +12 volt

2008-07-26 by clusters_movie

I need a cv source -12 + 12 volts to control a filtered coffé of
analogue solution and doepfer synth. Doepfer is controlled by cv
source -5 +5 volts; anyone know some modules like paia or banana logue.
I think i can use Kenton prosolo mkII but i need only cv source not
midi cv converter, any similar of A176 control voltage source but with
12volts output or little less. Thank Robert

The A133 VC polarizer will multiply a signal by up to +/- 2.5, so
running a CV through there should do the trick.

The A133 running with with +/- 2,5 volts, I need +/-12 volts: filtered coffeé running with CV +/- 12 volts Robert

No, it multiplies the amplitude of the signal by a factor of up to
2.5, meaning 5 volts input results in 12.5 volts output.

AH! That's really good! Wich kind of problems can have some doepfer modules than works with +/-5volts?

Hi Robert,

The CVs will clip. Everything above +5 Volt / below -5 Volt may have no
impact.

If you increase the value of the three feedback resistors R4, R9 and R13
from 47k to 100k you obtain ~ 0...+11.5V (+12V are not possible because the
maximal output voltage of the operational amplifiers is a bit below the
supply voltage (+12V).
If you disconnect the terminal of the potentiometer at the front panel that
is connected to GND and wire it to +12V you obtain ~ -11.5....+11.5V.

But a totally simple solution is to connect a potentiometer (typ. 50K...100k
linear) between -12V and + 12V and use it's center terminal as CV source. In
this case you obtain -12V...+12V.

I am completely ignorant about component of singles modules of system A 100. I use intuition and poor memory of school to understand.______In wich kind of modules i can find potentiometer 50k....100k? How i can connect it? Thank Robert

I did not mean to use the potentiometer of an existing module but to take a spare part potentiometer in the 50k...100k range and connect the end terminals to +12V and -12V. At the center terminal one obtains an adjustable voltage in the range -12V...+12V. This could be wired to a 3.5 mm socket (via a 1k protection resistor) to have a simple CV source -12V...+12V aivailable. All elements are available as spare parts from us (potentiometers, sockets, 8HP blind panels - even punched like A-176 for 5 x potentiometer and 5 x socket without printing).

Best wishes
