I heard that a criticism of the Doepfer A-101-2 module is that it uses the wrong the Vactrols (when compared to the Buchla). Has anyone ever modded the module to get more desirable results? While we are on the topic of mods, is there somewhere that Doepfer mods are collected and documented?

the A101-2 is one of my favourite filters. it is not initally impressive, but, in time, i have come to really value its sound shaping abilities (and the fact that it does not have a really 'pronounced' character). the vactrols it uses are fine also for wobbly sounds. i like it a lot! I gotta agree - not only that it sems hopeless at buchla emulation but that it is a fine, unique filter in its own right, I heard some organic flute-like tones that I've never heard from a synth before I'd love to know how it compares with the A-101-1 Steiner filter - does that have a similar quality? - Bakis? There are a few dotted over the place: here is the Analogue Haven stuff: http://www.analoguehaven.com/usercomm/diy/ (I don't know if it is reachable through from links at their site, but I've had that link on my site for some time, and it still works!). I also have a few mods at my site: www.timstinchcombe.co.uk/synth/synth_main.html Most of the others that I know of a more or less 'one offs', rather than collections of mods, and are probably to be found by searching the archives of this forum. In fact now that I think of it, I'm sure I have a list somewhere - if I can find it I will think about putting a dedicated page of links at my site. Tim
