a100p6 strength

a100p6 strength

2009-08-10 by Greg Cerveny

I picked up a second hand a100p6 two months ago only to have it arrive
with two of the power supply board spacers snapped off.

I just received another a100p6, cautioned the new seller to package it
carefully, and now, another set of broken standoffs.

Neither shipment had the same level of packing that Analogue Haven
provided, but still, with 2 for 2 broken spacers from 2 different
sellers, I have to believe this is some what of a common problem.

Anyone else have broken spacers?

It's so sad to have 3 cases worth of modules and now 2 broken cases.

The construction of standard euro racks is originally intended for lab
use, not for usage on the road; which also means it is not intended for
shipping in complete.

I'd recommend to unmount the backplane and pack it separately.

I think you're right on detaching the power supply

For anyone else, as an interim fix, I used 20mm m3 screws and 10mm
nylon standoffs. In the future, I would've use 25-30mm screws with
10mm nylon bushings, as I didn't take in to count the thickness of the
case. I picked them up from amazon for $3.

I'm happy to have my modules all mounted!
